The city of Kingston is embarking on an exploratory redevelopment of the Kingston Business Park, a 107-acre historically designated for commercial use. As a Pro-Housing Community, Kingston has set an ambitious goal of 1,000 new housing units by 2029, and this project presents a key opportunity to contribute to that vision.
Located neat Sojourner Truth State Park with partial vistas of the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains, the site offers prime potential for a residential and mixed-use transformation that integrates housing, public spaces, and sustainable design. The redevelopment will focus on:
Balanced Growth – Exploring residential and mixed-use options that respect the site’s topography and environmental sensitivities.
Walkable, Livable Communities – Aligning with Kingston’s form-based zoning code to create new, vibrant neighborhoods.
Smart Infrastructure & Connectivity – Evaluating transportation, parking, and access improvements.
Sustainable Design & Conservation – Working within the conservation village plan to ensure ecological responsibility.
Assemblage, alongside Buro Happold and MVRDV, is taking a site-sensitive approach that prioritizes biodiversity, resilience, and long-term environmental stewardship. As the City and the Kingston Local Development Corporation (KLDC) move forward, this redevelopment will set a new standard for growth that is both forward-thinking and deeply rooted in place.
