Wendy is the founder and principal of Assemblage. Her work is driven by innovation guided by the intelligence of natural systems. With over 20 years of experience designing, managing, and overseeing the implementation of award-winning landscapes, Wendy has developed deep expertise in public parks, waterfronts, and complex urban projects. She excels at leading multidisciplinary teams, integrating planning, technical design, and communications to create ecologically resilient spaces. Wendy is deeply committed to the creative reuse of reclaimed materials in landscape design, celebrating their histories while advancing sustainability and low-carbon design principles. Prior to founding Assemblage, Wendy worked at SCAPE Landscape Architecture, Starr Whitehouse Landscape Architects and Planners, and Dirtworks. Wendy has had academic appointments at the CCNY Spitzer School of Architecture, Columbia University GSAPP, and the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF). Wendy earned her MLA at SUNY ESF, where her capstone research took her to Brasília, Brazil to investigate the contemporary urban fabric of a modernist city. Wendy is a co-chair of the ASLA-NY Climate Action Committee, a founding member of the ASLA-NY Plant Research Group, and a member of RECLAIM NYC, an advocacy group leading the growth of material salvage and reuse in NYC’s design and construction industry.
