The Hudson Valley Collaborative Awarded Climate Adaptive Design Grant for the City of Hudson, NY
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced funding for projects in the Hudson River Estuary region intended to help communities improve climate resiliency and ecosystem restoration. After a rigorous grant selection process, they have selected the Hudson Valley Collaborative, who will partner with the City of Hudson to provide a climate-adaptive design for a city-owned shoreline park. Assemblage Landscape Architecture is thrilled to be one of the designers comprising HVC for the project, along with Kaja Kuehl of youarethecity. HVC has partnered with eDesign Dynamics, who will provide environmental engineering expertise on the project.
Assemblage is excited to take on a climate adaptation, a critical issue facing Hudson estuary communities today. As a waterfront community on the estuary, Hudson has the opportunity to engage in a nature-based design process that will enhance the waterfront as both intertidal ecosystem and active recreational shoreline. Stay tuned as this project unfolds and we undertake an intensive site understanding that will ultimately lead to a design framework for an urban riverfront park that regenerates the shoreline, responds to sea level rise, and maintains recreational access that is critical to the Hudson community.
Hudson Valley Collaborative members are Kaja Kuehl, Anna Deitzsch, Wendy Andringa and Liz McEnaney.
