Linking Art and Ecology for the Pavilions at Art Omi
At Assemblage, we see every project as an opportunity to advance climate-positive design and enhance or restore the site’s ecology, and we are excited to take this approach for a comprehensive park design at the Pavilions at Art Omi. The park will showcase art and architecture in a unique pastoral setting, situated on a hilltop location encompassing a diverse character of open fields, woodlands and wetlands. Our regenerative design approach puts ecology at the forefront by exploring how the site can make a positive impact on the Hudson Valley ecology and beyond.
By supporting restoration of the land, water and atmosphere, we consider how the Omi Pavilions site should perform at its greatest ecological scale. An underlying goal is to increase the site’s carbon capture potential and will inform an approach to material selection and planting design throughout. Mindfulness of the miles that materials must travel to the site has us looking at ways to use on-site resources, and mindfulness of the wildlife on site has us enhancing the habitat for those species. Additionally, since a portion of the site is used for seasonal livestock grazing, we are exploring ways that silvopasture can help regenerate the land.
Assemblage is excited to have been selected to design the Pavilions at Art Omi park - stay tuned as our work develops!
