CATE MEERSMAN | WEDG

Cate is a landscape designer with experience in both design and environmental planning at Assemblage. She is passionate about projects that enhance the health and resilience of land and communities through collaborative design. Her interdisciplinary design research explores the layered and complex histories of sites through drawing, mapping, and other forms of generative exploration. Cate is committed to improving the public realm in New York City through volunteering and stewardship with the local environmental organization Gowanus Canal Conservancy.

In addition to design, Cate enjoys teaching and most recently co-taught a summer intensive landscape architecture foundation studio at UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design. Cate holds an MLA from UC Berkeley, and a BLA from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign where she received a National ASLA Student Honor Award. She also serves as a guest critic at Columbia GSAPP student reviews.
