ANDREA JOHNSON | AICP

Andrea is a certified environmental planner and researcher with over a decade of experience advancing community resilience and equitable infrastructure across New York State. She is skilled in site feasibility studies, renewable energy and urban-ecological systems analysis, GIS-based environmental assessments, and stakeholder coordination. With a demonstrated ability to translate research and technical data into actionable planning and communication strategies, she is well-positioned to help support public-sector climate and energy projects.

In 2021 Andrea was awarded the Kaplan Chair for Urban Design to advance a Rikers Island renewable energy hub concept in collaboration with the Renewable Rikers Coalition. in 2024, she consulted for the Independent Rikers Commission, leading project management and coordination for the Renewable Rikers subcommittee, providing research and analytical support on funding pathways, city planning initiatives, and best practices in wastewater and wet-weather management.

Andrea is an American Planning Association member, a Collective for Community, Culture and the Environment member, and a Public Power NY member working on the Build Public Renewables Act campaign.
